with members of both the U.S. and Europe crews putting on a demo and judging a crash derby race around the park. The one word description of this event: carnage.
The whole thing started early on Wednesday. The park staff and loads of helpers gave the park a lick of paint with some great little touches and a team led by Blackwell replaced the quarter pipe by the entrance using reclaimed timber from past constructions. Due to issues with getting the coping drilled Lee completed this new ramp about 15 minutes before the demo started on Thursday!
Harry was convinced that Miami Vice colours were the way to go and after all the effort everyone put in it actually looks really good!
I decided to go with a camera top flash setup for this one so dust was a bit of a problem and I struggled a little with exposure so I did miss a few bangers. Oh, and when someone tried to light a barbecue outside and filled the park with white smoke in the middle of the demo..... Cheers. So there's a few of the locals that got their game on too. Never a bad thing.
Demos are not what they used to be, thankfully. I remember a time when parks would be cleared of locals and the pros got to perform for everyone. These days it's turned into more of a session with pros. This brings a really good session together, the ones with the gaul to skate, rewarded with a bit of time on the platform with these guys.
